You already have a new or used vehicle or are looking for a suitable chassis?
The correct choice of base vehicle is as individual as the selection of the cab size and the intended usage of the vehicle. There is no ranking of manufacturer or wheelbase here.
A good chassis then exhibits its advantages if the correct cab size and the intended terrain has been perfectly selected. Short wheelbases allow a perfect ramp angle, but tend to pitch. With a wheelbase that is too long, you create a good incline or approach angle, but the transfer gearbox and lower assemblies can get you stuck and reduce the ability to master curves due to a turning circle that is too large.
The correct combination
The vehicle is perfect if the correct interplay for your actual requirements has been found.
It becomes clear that you cannot drive a 6x6 vehicle with a length of 11 metres in places where a daily 4x4 that is 5.8 metres long is already tight for space once a quad bike, 900 litres of fresh water, generous room and a few other creature comforts are at the top of your list.
